orange chocolate
kids love chocolate. especially this time of year. and can we blame them? everyone loves chocolate. especially this time of year.
but not all chocolate loves kids. and not all chocolate is created equally. cote d'ivoire, the country that grows and harvests most of the world's chocolate, is notorious for forced child labor in dangerous and abusive situations. the truth is that the chocolate our kids love eating every day as they count down to Christmas often comes to them at no small cost to their peers in africa.
...and the truth is, with how much these kiddos love to devour, it's often expensive to get them to eat fairly traded chocolate instead of the stuff hershey's puts out that hurts kids all around the world.
in my experience, what has been best in talking to kids about why they get less chocolate that is more expensive is to tell them that this chocolate costs more because the people who make it are doing their very best to take care of kids all around the world. so it costs us a little more but helps lots of children out.
anyway, in helping kids understand why they are getting less chocolate this christmas and why it's important to get certain kinds rather than others, we thought it would be nice to make it a fun process!
below is some interactive information as well as color sheets for kids to use and pray over and learn with! enjoy!
