in the months of november and december, midtown friends community invites you to join us before our sunday worship to make gifts. mainly, these will be less of workshop time than time spent together crafting and sharing knowledge. it will be low key, communal, generative, free....and fun!

11.14.10 - gifts made with yarn
Bring yarn and other supplies to knit, crochet, felt, or weave handmade Christmas gifts to give family and friends as part of Orange Christmas. If you don't know how, but want to learn come anyway! We will share our knowledge and swap resources!
11.21.10 - gifts made with fabric
Bring fabric, felt, old clothes and ties, anything you can deconstruct, and either your sewing machines or good ol' fashioned needle and thread to make blankets, pot holders, dress up clothes, cup sleeves, felt food and toys, reusable bags, and prints to give as gifts to family and friends as part of Orange Christmas. If you have never sewn, but want to learn come anyway!
11.28.10 - gifts made with paper
Bring printed and colored paper (8 1/2" x 11" is best for cards), adhesive (Tombo tape roller, ModPodge), old Christmas cards scissors, envelopes, magazines, photos, scrapbook pages, magazines, and other supplies to make cards, prints, scrapbook layouts, found books, cover notebooks, collages, boxes, and note cards as handmade Christmas gifts to give family and friends as part of Orange Christmas. If you don't know how, but want to learn come anyway! We will share our knowledge and swap resources!
12.05.10 - gifts made with meltables/recycled materials
Bring glycerin soap (solid as sold at craft stores), old candles or wax, old crayons, glass jars, wicks, fair trade melting chocolate (or donation to use some of church stash), pretzels, marshmallows, peppermint sticks to make pretty soaps, candles, cute crayons, and candies (Alena has all the molds) as handmade Christmas gifts to give family and friends as part of Orange Christmas. Bring beads, pendants, wire, string, embroidery thread, needle nose pliers, round tip pliers, wire cutters, glass votive holders, old jewelry and findings to make earrings, necklaces, bracelets, candle holders and other handmade Christmas gifts to give family and friends as part of Orange Christmas. If you don't know how, but want to learn come anyway! We will share our knowledge and swap resources!
12.19.10 - re-gifting swap
Bring any unwanted unused or (if appropriate) gently used "regift" worthy items such as plates, mugs, bath and body products, cute accessories, etc. to swap with each other and make into handmade Christmas gift baskets to give family and friends as part of Orange Christmas. Perfect replacement for last minute shopping!
